Seneca Strategic Partnersis searching for qualified candidates to fill part-time and on-call positions for role players at the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) JamesJ. Rowley Training Center(JJRTC)inLaurel,Maryland.As arole player, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the training experience by creating real-world tactical military training scenarios in direct support of professional instructors.Reliable professional role players are required to support various dynamic training exercises ranging from canine related, protective mission, and escalation/de-escalation scenarios that require role players to participate in physically demanding activities.Role players shall typically be assigned to scenarios scheduled Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Additional training may be scheduled after 10:00 PM on weeknights and on weekends due to training requirements and availability of training areas at JJRTC. Work will not be scheduled during holidays, when the government is closed due to local and/or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar government directed facility closings. All scenarios are conducted year-round at the JJRTC and will take place during variable weather conditions. Role players will be managed, coordinated, and led by a site supervisor (SS) and assistant supervisor (AS).

The role-playing position is open to all genders.


Responsibilities

Role playersareutilizedas anintegral partof basictrainingforspecial agent and Uniformed Division officer trainees,as well as advanced training for operational agentsandofficersin professionaldevelopment.



  • Roleplayers assistin providing realisticsituationsinwhichstudentsandother lawenforcement entitiescan make a practical application of thevariousinvestigativeandlawenforcement skillstaughtatAn important factor in the success of a practical exercise is the quality and depth of the role-playing. The immediacy andrealism ofasituationcan be lost unless a role player isableto live arole andfreelyadaptto it in response to the wayanindividual student handleseach situation.Ineachscenario, role players cannot relyon aninflexiblescriptasan actor does.
  • The role player must thoroughly understand the trainingobjectives of eachscenarioandthe role theyareplaying; therefore,eachrole playershall adjustto avarietyofoutcomesand react inamanner mostappropriateto the way inwhich a situation
  • The role playershall improviseat times in a manner that is consistent with thescenario, theinstructor'sdirection,and the overall objectivesof training. Role players areconsistentlyused in training scenarios, which includesurveillance,arrestsituations,witness interviews,subject interrogations, blank-firing weaponexercises, and canine scenarios.


Qualifications

  • Candidatesshouldpossessacombinationof formal education abovethe highschoolleveland several yearsof work experience.Associate or bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • SpeakEnglishat the eighth-gradelevelor above.
  • Be capableof meeting the USSSsecurity requirements ofthissolicitation andpass a background check and drug screening.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service oriented, foster teamwork, and promote safety. Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Applicants must have a valid state issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Prior driving experience required. Must pass a driver safety skills test.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals.
  • Flexibility and availability to assist in creating a weekly schedule of shifts and scenarios.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Role players shall be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 60-minute intervals.
  • Role players shall be able to carry up to 20 pounds of training props during this timeframe.
  • In certain training scenarios, they shall be able to run up to 100 yards.
  • Role players shall becapableof beinghandcuffed and searchedin avarietyofpositions(i., standing, kneeling,prone,walkingbackwardsontheir knees).
  • Duringtrainingexercises, the role players will be provided with safety equipmentprovided by the government.
