Overview

The Pathology team is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist, Histologist. Experience working in a histology laboratory is essential. An understanding of anatomy and histology processes, including but not limited to grossing, tissue embedding and sectioning of paraffin and OCT blocks is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Histotechnology including trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning and staining (H&E, special stains) of tissue samples (including but not limited to rodent, nhp, rabbit and human tissues).
  • General laboratory assistance including ordering and receiving of lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and histology lab equipment maintenance
  • Maintain regulatory compliance, SOPs, incident reporting and training
  • Filing of slides and blocks
  • Identify operational and technical problems and maintain equipment
  • Cross-functional collaboration with the research group and broadly with other departments throughout the company

Some workday hours flexibility dependent on study needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • BS in life sciences with 3+ years of relevant histology laboratory experience or Masters degree with 2+ years of relevant histology laboratory experience.
  • Essential skills:
    • Microtomy
    • FFPE tissue embedding
    • Operation & maintenance of histology equipment (automated stainers, tissue processors, embedding centers, microtomes)
    • Knowledge of Anatomy
    • Ability to work collaboratively within the team
  • Desirable skills:
    • Experience in biotechnology or CRO-based pathology laboratory setting
    • Experience operating & maintaining a cryostat
    • HT or HTL ASCP certification
    • Experience with data entry
    • Experience with Image capture
    • Experience collecting and reporting laboratory metrics
