Job Description

Provides trust and estates legal guidance to the Bank in connection with reviewing and opening Trust and Estate accounts. Perform all real estate notary services one day a week in Needham Bank main office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Reviews and interprets complex estate and trust documents for new and existing customers.
  • Coordinates/participates with in-house/outside counsel on disputes and legal actions and manages ordinary course court actions in rare situations.
  • Assists in developing training programs and/or materials, as well as providing such training as appropriate or requested.
  • Keeps informed of federal and state legislation and judicial decisions that may affect Trust Lines of Business operations; assists in ensuring compliance with said laws, regulations and decisions.

Experience and Skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • The position requires either existing knowledge of trusts and estates, or the ability to learn both.
  • Must have or willing to obtain Massachusetts Notary. Must be willing and able to interact with customers to perform notary services for Real Estate Documents, including Mortgages and Deeds.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution with current license to practice law.
  • Legal experience preferred, trust and estate experience preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Legal coursework in trust and estates required.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • 3 days a week (part-time), hybrid schedule available but must work onsite at Needham Bank main office one day per week and work onsite at Wellesley office two days per month.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
  • Potential, but not guaranty, of full-time work in other areas of law in the future.
