Essential Job Duties |
The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences is seeking an Extension Weed Specialist at the level of tenure track Assistant Professor. The incumbent will be an integral, collaborative, and supportive member of the
NCSU Weed Science Program as well as the Crop and Soil Sciences faculty. The incumbent will be expected to develop appropriate extension publications and other outreach tools, will be involved in Cooperative Extension field faculty training in weed management and problem solving, will publish research results in the peer-reviewed literature and other appropriate outlets, and will interact with commodity organizations and the agricultural community. The incumbent will also teach the Ag Institute weed science course.
The incumbent will develop a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program in soybean and small grains weed management.
Areas of focus will include:
- Innovative cultural, chemical, mechanical, and biological strategies to improve sustainable weed management recommendations to stakeholders.
- Expertise in conducting applied field research is expected.
- Experience with precision weed management technology such as machine guided control or aerial detection and application is preferred.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- PhD in Weed Science or a closely related discipline.

Other Required Qualifications |
- Expertise in weed science.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to publish peer-reviewed research in nationally and internationally recognized journals.
- Experience with field plot research methods.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with small grains and soybean production.
- Experience with precision weed management technology such as machine guided control or aerial detection and application.

- A valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain a NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire. DL must be maintained.
