DEA's Portland office is seeking a Senior Structural Building Engineer to join our Structures Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, providing support for structural planning, design, construction, inspection, and rehabilitation work for commercial, transportation, and industrial clients. As part of our team, you will act as a task lead and be involved in structural design, analysis, and detailing for various building systems using IBC and other design codes. Additionally, you will review and check the work of other structural engineers, ensuring the highest quality of project deliverables.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design concepts and layouts for building and facility structures.
  • Perform and check engineering calculations and drawing details.
  • Create and review engineering specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Review contractor submittals during construction phases.
  • Assist with or perform condition inspections and reporting on existing structures.
  • Participate in client meetings, project development, and proposal teams.
  • Support project managers in preparing and monitoring work plans for various projects.
  • Collaborate with pursuit champions and project managers in proposal development.
  • Effectively communicate client needs and project goals to the internal project team.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of structural design experience, including work on industrial facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of IBC and ASCE 7.
  • Excellent communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in structural software: Mathcad, RISA 3D, SAP, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with ASCE 41.
