Sibley Memorial Hospital located in Washington, D.C.is hiring for a Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer.

Schedule:

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday

Pay Rate:$42 - $46

Requirements


  • Performs all ultrasound procedures according to department procedures and established protocols. Performs fetal exams including but not limited to: 1st trimester ultrasound exam, nuchal translucency measurement, 2nd trimester detailed anatomic survey, 3rd trimester ultrasound exam, full and limited fetal echocardiography, maternal and fetal Doppler (MCA, umbilical artery, ductus venosus, and uterine artery), and biophysical profile.
  • Assists perinatologists in performing invasive procedures including but not limited to: chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, amnio-reduction, and amnioinfusion.
  • Collaborates with direct supervisors to assure adequate Sonographer coverage including the potential for "on-call" availability.
  • Performs portable examinations requiring movement of ultrasound equipment to various patient locations, via elevators, if necessary.
  • Monitors and observes any abnormal changes in patients color, respiration, heart rate, and responsiveness. Responds appropriately to emergency situations in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Interviews patients for history pertaining to ultrasound exam.
  • Greets patient, explains ultrasound procedure, and prepares patients for procedures according to department protocols.
  • Verifies accuracy of ultrasound requisition by checking physician's order in patient's medical record or prescription. Verbal clarification from physician may be necessary if orders are unclear.
  • Works in accordance with hospital and department policies/practice regarding documentation of ultrasound exams and billing for services.
  • Participates in continuing education.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to problem solve.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Registration (or Registry-eligible) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
