TPT - Astronomy (SP25, SU25, FA25)

The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is seeking candidates for temporary, part-time faculty to teach 1000-2000 level Astronomy courses. This will be a continuous recruitment starting with the spring 2025 semester. Applicants will be selected as needed per semester.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, The
University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of The
University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region
and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on
teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,
technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High
School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and
staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester. UNM has earned
the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace
policies.

Best consideration date for the summer 2025 semester is March 1, 2025; for fall 2025, April 1, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Astronomy or
  Physics or Master's degree in a related field and 18 graduate credit hours
  in Astronomy or Physics.
• Experience teaching at a
  post-secondary institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD, ABD, or EdD in Astronomy or
  related field.
• Experience or training for
  teaching online.
• At least one year of successful
  teaching experience at a community college.
• A demonstrated commitment to
  diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with
  broadly diverse communities.
