SCOPE OF WORK:

The Inventory Specialist, under the supervision of the Operations Manager, is responsible for managing in-kind donations and purchased inventory. This includes collecting, organizing, tracking, and distributing resources to meet client needs. The Inventory Assistant will maintain storage areas, assist with procurement, and ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting. Key duties involve locating, picking up, and coordinating the delivery of furniture and household items for newly resettled families in Wichita, KS, as well as setting up apartments and purchasing required goods. This role requires physically moving furniture and interacting with IRC clients and community partners to secure new donation sources.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Label, organize, and track inventory, ensuring storage facilities are secure, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Manage both on-site and off-site storage of household goods and personal items designated for IRC clients.
  • Coordinate daily operations of donation storage areas, ensuring the organized stocking and distribution of in-kind goods.
  • Collaborate with staff and community partners to safely load, unload, and distribute goods, adhering to IRC and donor guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records to track incoming and outgoing inventory using IRC's data management systems.
  • Streamline the collection and distribution of in-kind donations in coordination with the direct service team to meet program targets.
  • Secure in-kind donations of furniture, household supplies, and other necessary items for clients.
  • Assist with coordinating donation pickups from community members.
  • Perform household setups, including moving mattresses, furniture, and household goods.
  • Provide general office duties and administrative support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Professional experience in business administration, supply chain, retail, not-for-profit, or similar field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
  • Ability to regularly lift ~50 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
  • Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired (Spanish, Pashto, Dari, Swahili, French)
  • Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC's core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Working Environment:

  • A standard office environment and 'field' time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
