The city of Las Vegas was founded on May 15, 1905 and is home to more than 594,000 residents. The largest city in Nevada, Las Vegas is governed by Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and six city council members. City Manager Jorge Cervantes, who was appointed by the city council, oversees administrative duties and the city’s more than 3,000 employees.
