Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Research Lab Technician II.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our auditory neuroscience research team, where we focus on how developmental hearing loss impacts brain function and behavior. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in research and/or technical skills. The role offers the opportunity to help set up advanced laboratory equipment and gain hands-on experience with animal behavior and physiology techniques.

Key Responsibilities



  • Helping to set up and maintain lab equipment, including software, hardware, and other technical systems
  • Training and handling small animals (gerbils) for auditory behavior tasks
  • Assisting with data collection and analysis for research experiments
  • Maintaining detailed records of experiments and laboratory activities
  • Contributing to the organization and upkeep of the laboratory



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in related field of Science required
  • 2+ year's research lab experience
  • Basic understanding of neuroscience preferred and familiarity with MATLAB, engineering, or related technical skills (preferred).
  • Experience with or willingness to learn techniques in the laboratory, including behavioral training and physiology approaches (in vivo neural recordings)
  • Willing to handle rodents (gerbils) and previous experience in research, animal handling, or animal behavior (preferred).
