The Dr. John C. Corrigan Mental Health Center is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for the position of Mental Health Worker II who desire a rewarding career making a difference in the lives of individuals. Our ideal candidate for this position will assist professional staff in providing day-to-day direct care to individuals on a 16-bed secured inpatient unit with serious and persistent mental illness, including monitoring patients behaviors, providing instruction on the activities of daily living and guidance and support to MHW I staff in completing these tasks. The selected candidate will possess strong therapeutic interpersonal skills to encourage and motivate individuals in their recovery to work towards treatment goals. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. An Associate's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health or retardation may be substituted for the required experience.* *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
