This is an excellent opportunity for a Director of Institutional Giving (40 hours/week) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

PPWI's compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate's applicable experience and internal equity. The Director of Institutional Giving pay starts from $85,300 per year.
Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for leading and executing a strategic, relationship-centered institutional giving program that secures and grows philanthropic support from foundations, corporations, and other institutional partners. This position serves as the lead fundraiser for institutional giving within the development team, managing a portfolio of institutional funders and cultivating new opportunities across the state.
In addition to overseeing the full lifecycle of grants, the Director develops a statewide engagement strategy to build enduring relationships and elevate PPWI's visibility and credibility among institutional funders. They are responsible for partnering with PPWI's compliance and finance teams to ensure all grant-related quality and compliance requirements are met and documented.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, including a strong dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
- Proven track record of securing and growing institutional support from foundations, corporations, and public grant makers, including managing a portfolio of institutional funders.
- Successful relationship-building and stewardship skills, with experience engaging executive-level contacts at funder organizations.
- Demonstrated project management skills, with a history of successful cross-functional collaboration and ability to lead through influence.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing, editing, and submitting successful grant proposals.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Experience in Raiser's Edge (NXT) or another relational database software preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Business Management, or related field required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising, grant writing, foundation/corporate relations, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated success managing a grant portfolio and securing six- and seven-figure institutional gifts or grants.
- Project management certification or equivalent training/experience strongly preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low. The work environmental characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
This position requires traveling statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required. Must have transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Including, but not limited to, the following:
Strategic Leadership and Institutional Fundraising
  • Develop and execute a statewide strategy for institutional giving, aligned with PPWI's operational priorities and strategic plans.
  • Partner with development leadership to set annual institutional giving goals and strategies as part of the overall fundraising program.
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure funding from private and family foundations, corporations, and government agencies to grow institutional support year over year.
  • Ensure alignment with funding opportunities and organizational needs through a deep understanding of PPWI's programs, services, and strategic priorities
Funder Cultivation and Relationship Management
  • Serve as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of foundation and corporate funders, ensuring consistent and high-quality engagement.
  • Build and sustain authentic, long-term relationships with institutional funders through strategic outreach, site visits, impact reporting, and ongoing communication.
  • Represent PPWI at meetings and convenings with institutional funders, either independently or in partnership with executive and program leadership.
  • Participate in external stakeholder engagement opportunities to connect with potential funders and philanthropic partners.
Grant Development and Proposal Management
  • Lead the development, writing, and submission of compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials in collaboration with program and finance staff.
  • Coordinate internal and external contributors to ensure timely, high-quality proposal development, narrative creation, and budget alignment.
  • Partner with internal or contracted grant writers as needed to scale proposal volume or support special projects.
Grants Compliance and Lifecycle Management
  • Manage the full lifecycle of grant funding-from prospecting and proposal development through reporting and renewal.
  • Track deliverables, monitor grant performance, and ensure compliance with all grant terms and conditions in collaboration with compliance, finance, and program teams.
  • Review, manage, and track all grant agreements and contracts, ensuring documentation is complete and deadlines are met.
  • Lead preparation for grant-funded activities, including funder reporting, program evaluation, site visits, and internal reporting needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grants, reports, and funder interactions in PPWI's CRM (Raiser's Edge NXT) and electronic files.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Internal Alignment
  • Partner with cross-departmental colleagues to identify fundable opportunities, gather impact data, and ensure alignment between program implementation and funder expectations.
  • Serve as the primary internal point person for coordinating grant-related communication and project management across departments.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to anticipate funding needs, understand program outcomes, and prepare for renewal or re-application processes.
  • Support the development team in broader planning, donor engagement, and campaign strategies related to institutional giving.
