What this job involves:

Join JLL's facilities management team as a Building Maintenance Assistant, where you'll be an essential part of maintaining world-class commercial properties across South Florida. This hands-on role combines technical expertise with client service excellence, supporting the operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical building systems including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment. You'll contribute directly to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional workplace experiences by ensuring optimal facility performance and tenant satisfaction. Working alongside senior engineers while developing your independent technical capabilities, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the operational excellence that sets JLL apart as a leader in commercial real estate services and facilities management.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to work orders for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems while documenting all activities in real-time client portals and Nuvolo ticket systems
  • Facility Inspections & Reporting:Assist with comprehensive facility inspections and due diligence efforts, identifying and reporting conditions that impact client occupancy and operational satisfaction
  • Interior Maintenance & Tenant Support:Execute general maintenance tasks including hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, repairing office furniture systems, door repairs, and moving office furniture and equipment as requested
  • Building Systems Support:Replace lighting and ballasts, assist with HVAC coil cleaning, filter and belt changes, and support the operations team in equipment maintenance and repair activities
  • Safety Compliance & Hazard Management:Complete hazard assessments, maintain compliance with state/county/city codes, attend required safety training, and ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Administrative & Communication Duties:Manage work order documentation, escalate issues to Senior Building Engineers and Facilities Managers, and attend work/safety meetings as scheduled
  • Multi-Site Operations:Provide backup support to Senior Building Engineer during PTO and have ability to work overtime when needed and to travel to other South Florida offices as needed. Mileage reimbursement available.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 1 year of applicable experience in general building repair, maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with professional demeanor suitable for client-facing interactions in commercial office environments
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and perform frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting activities
  • Dependable transportation with ability to travel between West Palm Beach and Miami sites (mileage reimbursable)
  • Flexibility to work overtime, after-hours, and weekends when required to maintain critical building operations
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug/alcohol screening as required by JLL and client standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trade school certification or vocational training in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order platforms such as Nuvolo
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC systems including filter changes, coil cleaning, and belt replacement procedures
  • Familiarity with commercial building codes, safety regulations, and hazardous materials handling protocols
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate, property management, or corporate facility maintenance environments
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) to effectively communicate with diverse tenant populations and support teams
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record for reliable multi-site travel requirements
