Essential Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Controls, and Dynamics) to develop and analyze control strategies for HVAC systems such as commercial chillers and rooftop units
- Assist in creating, modifying, and maintaining Simulink models for HVAC control algorithms
- Support simulation-based studies by interacting with HVAC dynamic models to evaluate control strategies, troubleshoot performance issues, and collect data for analysis
- Contribute to system analysis and controller tuning by assisting with system identification, linear system analysis, and parameter optimization in Matlab/Simulink to assess controller performance and stability under senior guidance
- Support verification and validation (V&V) activities by creating/modifying test cases, running simulations, and documenting results using Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environments
- Assist with automation workflows and reporting by developing scripts, visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB plots or dashboards), and documentation to support simulation setup/execution, testing, model code generation, platform integration, and CI/CD pipelines
Minimum Qualifications:
- Junior currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to C++, Python, or MATLAB
- Exposure to Thermodynamics
- Completion of Systems Engineering or Linear Control Theory coursework by spring 2026
- GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, preferred 3.5 or better
- Reside within a 300-mile radius of our Plymouth, MN office
The typical hourly pay rate for this position is $24/hr - $27/hr. This represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
