Assistant Vice President, Military Affairs & Strategic Partnerships

Overview

Leads the execution of Navy Federal's military outreach and partnership initiatives, ensuring alignment with the broader vision set by executive leadership. Supports the enterprise-wide strategy for engaging with the Department of Defense (DoD), military communities, and strategic partners. Oversees the Military Community Engagement team and collaborates cross-functionally to enhance Navy Federal's visibility, impact, and trust within the military ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise-level military engagement strategies into actionable regional and functional initiatives
  • Lead the implementation of outreach programs, events, and partnerships that support Navy Federal's mission to serve military members and their families
  • Direct and develop a team of Military Community Engagement Partners responsible for military base engagement, community events, and relationship building
  • Set performance goals, provide coaching, and ensure alignment with NFCU's values and strategic objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with military leaders, veteran service organizations, and community partners
  • Represent Navy Federal at regional military events, ceremonies, and forums to advocate for financial wellness and member engagement
  • Manage and evaluate military-focused programs and partnerships to ensure effectiveness and alignment with Navy Federal's strategic goals
  • Support the development of new partnerships with military-affiliated nonprofits, transition programs, and financial literacy organizations
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Marketing, CSR, Public Policy, Community Affairs, and Financial Opportunity, to ensure cohesive military engagement
  • Provide insights and feedback to product and member experience teams to enhance offerings for military members and veterans
  • Oversee budgets and resource allocation for military affairs initiatives
  • Track and report on key performance indicators to measure program success and inform continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in military affairs, government relations, nonprofit leadership, or strategic partnerships
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in cross-functional or matrixed environments, including developing and cultivating high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of military culture, structure, and community needs
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships, including external partners, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and experience using data to inform decision-making and measure impact
  • Experience managing budgets and evaluating program effectiveness
  • Ability to travel and represent NFCU at military and community events

Desired Qualification(s)

  • Master's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, or related field
  • Prior military service or direct experience working with military communities
  • Experience in digital outreach strategies and virtual engagement platforms

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
