Salary Range:$261.77 per day Entry Rate (85% of full pay rate)

The Clerk - Material Expediter position handles clerical tasks to support railroad operations.

This is a full-time(40hrs/wk) position. This position is subject to overtime and alternate shifts that may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are governed by union agreement and subject to seniority.

Travel is minimal.

Trainingfor this position is company-paid on-the-job training.

Key responsibilities may include:

Equipment Operator

  • Operate, service, and inspect a variety of material handling equipment including overhead cranes, industrial forklift trucks, stackers, equipment movers, and delivery vehicles
  • Assist in rail switching operations including hook work for cranes, inspection and securing of loads

Section Stockman

  • Order, track and manage materials
  • Manage inventory by receiving, shipping, disbursing, delivering, locating, storing materials and keeping accurate inventories of warehouse contents
  • Provide accurate and helpful information to suppliers and customers about ordering, tracking and expediting materials
  • Operate material-handling equipment, such as forklift trucks, stackers, equipment movers, and delivery vehicles

Stock Clerk

  • Handling, ordering and receipt of materials
  • Shipping, disbursement, delivery, storage and physical inventorying of warehouse inventory
  • Operate material handling equipment
  • Converse with suppliers and customers regarding ordering, tracking and expediting materials

ADDITIONAL responsibilities include truck and equipment operation - operating company truck, trailer and tractor trailer and other material handling equipment. Also maintain accurate driver's daily log as required by Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Order, receive, stock and disperse, load/unload materials

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • At least 18 years of age, or will be by the anticipated start date listed above.
  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
  • Able to work the above shift/hours.
  • Ability to perform efficient keyboard-based data entry and communications in time-sensitive environments.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow and lunar (clear light); hear, and with training,distinguish auditory signals.
  • Ability to learn to identify, interpret and use hand signals from near and far and visually judge the speed anddistance of moving objects.
  • Ability to perform basic functions on a personal computer (PC).
  • Ability to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling; including use of handtools.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders and on/off equipment.
  • Ability to work at various heights above the ground including stocking/retrieving material on warehouse shelves.
  • Ability bend, walk, stand and sit for several hours.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the jobin a safe manner.

Unionmembership is with the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) and union dues are required per union agreement.
