Department Overview: The Department of Psychology (http://psychology.ucsd.edu/) consistently ranks among the top experimental psychology programs in the country. Currently there are 30 senate faculty, 5 adjunct professors, 5 research faculty, 25 staff and 65 graduate students. The department has over 50 active federal contracts/grants and gift funds. The annual expenditures total over $10 million across federal, state, and gift funds. Psychology faculty conduct research within four broad areas: Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, and Social Psychology. The department has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research at UCSD, and many faculty maintain collaborative relationships with campus units including Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, UCSD's Medical School, Rady School of Management, and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Position Overview: Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Affairs, the Undergraduate Advisor provides a wide variety of academic and student services. Duties include advising undergraduate majors, minors, and other students taking departmental courses; serving as an undergraduate student affairs expert for faculty and staff and as a contact person for other on- and off-campus departments, entities, and organizations; initiating resolution on problematic petitions and forms; working closely with the undergraduate colleges, Registrar's Office, Financial Aid Office, University Extension Office, International Center, Office of Students with Disabilities and other academic departments; administering the human subject pool for the department's experiment management system; providing support to the department's Honors Program; providing for administration of OSD test accommodations; participating in outreach and recruitment events; program planning and administrative management. Additional duties include: coordinating conferences, workshops, program meetings, and special events for Psychology programs; representing Psychology programs at University functions and student outreach events; representing the department at meetings, workshops, outreach and special presentations and events; managing program budgets. Working in a team-oriented environment, the position demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a large and diverse population, and excellent computer skills for data analysis and reporting functions. This position serves as a vital resource to the Undergraduate Affairs Committee, Chair, CAO, and Director of Student Affairs on undergraduate program issues, student-related activities and other educational matters pertaining to the departmental student affairs mission. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
