What this job involves: As a Facility Manager for Critical Environments, you'll serve as the single point of contact responsible for ensuring the continuous, flawless operation of mission-critical data center facilities that power the digital economy. This strategic leadership role combines deep technical expertise with people management skills to oversee complex infrastructure systems including power, cooling, fire safety, and security systems that cannot afford downtime. You'll lead a team of engineers and supervisors while partnering closely with global technology leaders to deliver exceptional facility management services that keep their critical operations running 24/7/365. Your success will directly impact the careers of your team members and the operational reliability that Fortune 1000 companies depend on for their digital infrastructure.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Ensure maintenance and continuous operation of all critical data center systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear), emergency power, and digital security systems
  • Develop, review, and approve critical environment work efforts and mission-critical maintenance procedures for assigned facilities and systems
  • Manage and develop your critical environments team through hiring, training, performance management, and career development planning with measurable goals for each direct report
  • Identify maintenance objectives and incorporate them into documented preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures while managing contractor relationships and work oversight
  • Develop and manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets including infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, repairs, critical spare parts, and equipment replacements to ensure future facility capabilities
  • Maintain all infrastructure documentation including up-to-date drawings, one-line schematics, and regulatory compliance documentation required by federal, state, and local laws
  • Prepare and report on KPIs to track team performance while ensuring average downtime remains below 1% due to guideline violations and maintaining budget variance within 5%

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with 7-10 years of JLL engineering experience or equivalent industry experience in critical facilities
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership abilities, presentation capabilities, and organizational skills
  • Hands-on experience working in data center or critical facility environments including UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear operations
  • Moderate knowledge of manual trades including carpentry, electromechanical repair, and ability to use drawings, specifications, and measuring instruments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to read technical procedures, governmental regulations, and speak effectively to groups
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and ability to professionally interact with tenants and contractors
  • Physical ability to work in demanding environments including lifting 50+ pounds, climbing ladders up to 30 feet, working different schedules including holidays, and responding to site emergencies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Corrigo, MCIM/Salesforce, Zendesk, or ServiceNow platforms
  • Professional certifications related to data center operations, electrical systems, or facilities management
  • Experience managing teams in mission-critical environments with strict uptime requirements
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management and building automation systems
  • Previous experience working with Fortune 1000 clients in fast-paced, demanding environments
  • Advanced training in critical facility operations, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures
  • Experience with budget management, financial reporting, and vendor management in critical environments

Estimated compensation for this position:

124,800.00 - 152,800.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
