Work Schedule:

This is a 100% FTE position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will primarily work at East Madison Hospital with occasional travel to University Hospital and to the UW Health Administrative Office Building, all located in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Nursing Education Specialist to join our amazing Surgical Services Prep/Recovery/PACU team to:

  • Facilitate and conduct the initial onboarding and continued professional development of prep/recovery/post-anesthesia care nursing staff at East Madison Hospital conveniently located on Madison's east side.
  • Assist with curriculum and program development to support education for nursing staff at UW Health. This will include collaboration across departments.
  • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs.
  • Participate in the promotion and delivery of new house wide initiatives.
  • Provide expertise and resources in the area of support; for this position, three years of surgical services nursing experience including prep/recovery/PACU nursing is highly preferred as well as experience in nursing education.

Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing Required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Education Preferred

Work Experience

  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position specific patient population Preferred
  • 3 years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred
  • Relevant experience in primary and specialty clinic settings for NES candidates working in ambulatory areas Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months Required
  • National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
