Shift:


Tuesday-Friday 9-5:30, Saturdays 8-4:30


POSITION SUMMARY: The Child Life Activity Tech utilizes knowledge of child development to create a therapeutic and safe environment, helping patients and families cope with hospitalization through age-appropriate activities. They provide excellent customer service to patients, families, students, and healthcare staff, oversee volunteer and Pet Therapy programs, and collaborate with the community on events. Key skills include group facilitation, strong communication, creativity, time management, and adaptability, along with proficiency in computer applications.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  • Monitor entry to the Activity Center to ensure safety and infection prevention.
  • Maintain an engaging and safe play environment in the activity center.
  • Assist in recruitment and training for the Child Life Volunteer and Pet Therapy programs, leading volunteer interactions with patients.
  • Select and oversee community events that engage patients and families.
  • Collaborate with Project SEARCH interns on Child Life Activity Center standards.
  • Organize bedside activities to provide normalization and distraction for patients.
  • Foster an inviting play environment that stimulates development for families and children.
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team to integrate child life treatment plans and support care goals.
  • Document participation in activities to ensure safety and appropriate staffing.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate's Degree in Child Development, Family Studies, Education, Psychology, or related field; or
  • High school diploma/GED with at least 30 hours of relevant coursework; or
  • High school diploma/GED with a Florida DCF Birth through Five Training Certificate; or
  • High school diploma/GED with 5 years of pediatric experience.
  • Ability to assess individual needs through auditory and visual acuity, manage stress, and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Current CPR and AED certification for infants, children, and adults.
  • Strong skills in auditory, visual, and interpersonal assessments.










Salary Range: Minimum 17.70/hour - Maximum 28.32/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
