The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care services to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the direction and responsibility of a physician. The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) is an academic hospital. The Emergency Department (ED) has approximately 50,000 visits annually. There are 60 patient care rooms, 6 trauma/critical care resuscitation rooms, and a secure 13 bed psychiatric unit. JHBMC is a level 2 trauma center and Maryland's only regional burn center. You will have the opportunity to develop your emergency medical procedure skills for a wide variety of urgent and emergent patients care scenarios (intubation, arterial line placement, paracentesis, pigtail and large chest tube placement, joint reductions, suturing and more) The PA conducts physical exams, diagnoses and treats illnesses, orders and interprets tests, counsels on preventative care, assists in trauma and critical care, and writes prescriptions as needed.


Shifts: PRN Casual employee 12-hour rotating shifts; weekends


Qualifications:



  • Completion of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program; Master's preferred
  • Current Maryland Physician Assistant license; Board certified PA
  • Maryland CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
  • Current BLS Healthcare provider and ACLS certification required
  • 2-years of Emergency room work experience highly preferred; new graduates will be considered for PA I position
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required


You must be fully credentialled by the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Board to start working as an PA.




Salary Range: Minimum 71.16/hour - Maximum 71.16/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
