The Assistant Superintendent serves as the on-site safety and quality control lead, ensuring the jobsite remains clean, organized, and operating efficiently. This role supports the Superintendent in planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily construction activities, while also supervising Laborers and Carpenters and helping to guide overall project flow. The Assistant Superintendent conducts daily huddles with all trades, manages onsite logistics, enforces safety standards, and performs regular inspections to maintain top-tier quality. This position works closely with subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members and plays a key role in documentation, commissioning support, and overall project execution.



Description: What you'll be doing

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Superintendent is the safety and quality control presence in the field. This position ensures the jobsite is clean, safe, and organized. The Assistant Superintendent will supervise the Laborers and Carpenters on the project. The Assistant Superintendent will conduct or assist in conducting AM daily huddles with all trades, to ensure project flow for that workday.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Assist the Superintendent in planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction activities to meet project goals and deadlines.
  • Monitor and track project progress, including the work of subcontractors and suppliers, to ensure adherence to the construction schedule.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure that work meets the highest standards and complies with project specifications.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and effectively.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations as needed.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure they are delivering materials and services as per project requirements and contracts.
  • Resolve any issues or disputes with subcontractors or vendors in a professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Assist in generating project status reports for stakeholders and management.
  • Supervises self-performed work.
  • Supervises all trade work.
  • Onsite logistics control with signage
  • Works with all trades for quality assurance.
  • Attending Level 3 & 4 Commissioning meetings
  • Assisting with load banks and cabling for Commissioning.
  • Monitoring safety during Commissioning.
  • Signage and barricade installation for Commissioning safety.
  • Fill out daily logs accurately and consistently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Able to mentor and train their team.
  • Ability to travel to and from property locations
  • Ability to interface with technology and operate a computer
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to attend and have valuable input at subcontractor meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of Sabey employees as well as contractors, subcontractors, and tenants
  • Adhere to Company information security policies and standards by safeguarding confidential data, protecting access credentials, completing all required trainings on time, and taking immediate action to report potential security threats or breaches.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years' experience in construction supervision.
  • Has reached the Journeyman title in their field.
  • Critical Facilities Experience required
  • High School Diploma or GED

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of building construction and basic building maintenance
  • Able to generate flow on a project.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Can create and implement a three week look ahead schedule.
  • Learning MS project for job scheduling.
  • Self sufficient and driven with the goal to be a Superintendent.
  • Can access Basepin and Procore.
  • Can read and interpret plans.
  • Can use Bluebeam to mark up and interpret plans.
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn and utilize AI tools and technology
