Utility Technician Job Summary

Perform routine semi-skilled maintenance and support operations including industrial machine cleaning, production waste management, light building maintenance, and general facility support. This role ensures facilities are maintained in safe, clean condition while providing inventory support for Facilities, Maintenance, and Production departments under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Maintenance & Cleaning

  • Perform industrial machine cleaning, pump out, and honing of machinery
  • Execute machine filter changes and routine maintenance tasks
  • Operate maintenance and cleaning equipment including floor scrubbers, industrial vacuums, and mobile equipment
  • Perform light carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building maintenance as needed

Waste Management & Environmental Compliance

  • Move production waste including filters and chips with proper disposal per plant processes
  • Collect and dispose of production waste and recycling according to site standards
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety disposal procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized work environment following workplace organization standards

Facility Support Operations

  • Assist Facility Manager with execution of team goals and objectives
  • Provide facility-specific assistance as needed or requested
  • Support parts and maintenance inventory supplies for multiple departments
  • Operate fork trucks, pallet jacks, and other mobile equipment safely

Safety & Quality Standards

  • Preserve safe and clean work environment following all safety procedures
  • Utilize PPE when necessary and maintain compliance with facility standards
  • Provide quality service following organization standards and safe workplace practices
  • Maintain professionalism under stressful situations
Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in facility, warehouse, or production support environments

Technical Skills

  • Experience with fork truck and mobile equipment operation
  • Knowledge of facility standards and safety procedures
  • Ability to operate industrial cleaning and maintenance equipment
  • Understanding of waste management and disposal procedures

Core Competencies

  • Superior customer service skills and orientation
  • Ability to multitask and work with or without direct supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to utilize PPE and safety equipment as required
  • Trunk strength to support body repeatedly for extended periods
  • Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, and reach with body and limbs
  • Manual dexterity for pulling, stocking parts, and performing job duties
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 25+ pounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational training or certification in maintenance, facilities, or industrial operations
  • Fork truck/forklift certification and operating experience
  • Experience with industrial cleaning chemicals and procedures
  • Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical maintenance
  • Experience in manufacturing or production facility environments
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and workplace regulations
  • Experience with inventory management systems or procedures
  • Basic maintenance tool proficiency and equipment troubleshooting
  • Experience with waste management compliance and environmental procedures
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience in facilities support
Working Conditions

This position operates in an industrial facility environment with exposure to machinery, cleaning chemicals, production waste, and varying temperatures. Work involves physical activity including lifting, bending, and operating mobile equipment. Position may require flexible scheduling to support facility operations and maintenance needs.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
