Overview

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day to day administration, coordination of employee benefits and leave of absence administration to ensure compliance, accuracy, and a positive employee experience. This role is highly employee-facing and requires frequent interaction with employees, managers, payroll, carriers, and external vendors. This role serves as the first point of contact.

The Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for benefit programs and leave policies, providing guidance on eligibility, coverage, enrollment, and leave processes while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

This position is 4 days in person, 1 day remote in Moorestown, NJ.



Responsibilities

Benefits Administration

    Administer employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, EAP, and other employer-sponsored programs
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS
  • Advise employees and managers on eligibility, coverage, and benefit policies
  • Conduct benefit audits and resolve discrepancies
  • Support COBRA administration and annual Open Enrollment
  • Prepare benefit reports and analysis for leadership
  • Assist with benefit communications and employee education

Leave of Absence Administration

  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, NJ FLA, NJ Paid Sick Leave, Workers' Compensation, and personal leaves
  • Serve as primary contact for our external vendors, internal partners, and employees
  • Communicate with employees regarding leave requests, documentation, and timelines
  • Track leave usage, balances, and return-to-work processes
  • Coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping during leaves
  • Initiate and monitor long-term disability claims as applicable
  • Maintain communication with employees, managers, healthcare providers, and state agencies


Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience
4+ years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or payroll.

Special Skills
Strong understanding of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with employees, vendors, and stakeholders.

Salary range: $75,000-$80,000.
