MUST:
Experienced Staff Accountant
5+ years of professional experience working in accounting
Strong experience with month-end close outs and reconciliations
Strong experience in Government contracting
In-depth understanding of GAAP and FAR
Experience with ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint Unanet PROCAS or JAMIS
Intermediate to advanced Excel experience
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
High attention to details
Strong problem-solving skills and highly analytical
Self-starter and able to work independently
CPA designation is a plus
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
DUTIES:
Ideal candidate will work closely with the Accounting Manager to support operational accounting functions, ensure compliance with government regulations, and contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting
This candidate will be in integral part of the finance team and report directly to the CFO, collaborating with the CFO in financial forecasting and cash flow management
Review and perform all balance sheet account reconciliations and make necessary adjustments prior to month-end close
Prepare detailed reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for monthly close and annual audits
Review and understand contract documents as they relate to billing and revenue recognition
Manage and control the invoicing process to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant invoicing
Revise and edit invoices as needed
Submit invoices via required platforms (WAWF, IPP, customer portals, email, etc.)
Ensure invoices comply with contract terms, FAR requirements, and applicable regulations
Perform and/or oversee fixed asset accounting, accounts payable, and payroll accounting
Identify, research, and resolve accounting operational issues
Trace discrepancies and maintain proper documentation controls
Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting policies and procedures
Perform complex Excel-based financial analyses and calculations
Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information
Conducting detailed account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining GL integrity
Handling contract entry/reporting, and processing modifications with a firm grasp of billing and revenue implications
Utilizing Excel for complex calculations
Ensuring confidentiality of financial information
Escalate significant unresolved items to management as appropriate
Assisting in special projects to boost Finance Department efficiency
The successful candidate must be comfortable operating autonomously while remaining highly responsive and collaborative in a virtual team environment
