Dental Assistant - Expanded Functions Columbia, Maryland Pay From $26 per hour MUST: The Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant must have the following experience: Experienced Dental Assistant - Oral Surgery 2 plus years of current experience as a Dental Assistant Must be Expanded Function certified Must be x-ray certified in Maryland Must have strong implant experience Must be familiar with extractions Must have experience with working with EMR Must have experience working on patient under IV sedation Must have strong verbal and written communication skills Must be willing to obtain a CPR certification DUTIES: The Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant will have the following duties: Work directly with the Prosthodontist to assist in advanced dental procedures, particularly dental implant treatments Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment, ensuring strict infection control standards Provide chair-side assistance during procedures, anticipate the dentist's needs, and keep the treatment area clear and organized Make patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit Take dental x-rays, process radiographs, and assist with radiographic imaging Prepare materials for impressions and restorations Educate patients on post-operative care and general oral hygiene Support the prosthetic team with inventory management, lab coordination, and recordkeeping Perform office tasks as needed, such as scheduling appointments, receiving patients, maintaining records, and ordering supplies Collaborate with other clinical staff, including oral surgeons, hygienists, and Patient Education Consultants to ensure exceptional care Assist in specialized areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthodontics Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
