Another Source's client, Florida State University, is recruiting a Program Director of Budget and Financial Services (Associate Bursar) to join their team in Tallahassee, FL. This is an onsite role.

About this role:

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity at the intersection of finance, systems, and student experience. As the Associate Bursar, you will serve as a senior leader within Student Finance, overseeing the systems, services, and controls that power student financial operations.

At a time when institutions are modernizing financial systems and enhancing digital experiences, this role is central to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and innovation across student financial services. You'll lead critical efforts tied to system optimization, process improvement, and financial oversight-while guiding a team and partnering across the university to improve how financial services are delivered to students and families.

How you will spend your time:

    Provide functional leadership for student financial systems including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Transact, and Flywire, ensuring accurate configuration, billing, and refund processes
  • Partner with campus stakeholders and vendors to enhance system performance, resolve issues, and improve automation and user experience
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures aligned with federal, state, and university regulations, as well as NACUBO best practices
  • Evaluate and document business processes to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement-especially in preparation for system modernization efforts
  • Oversee administration of complex financial programs such as graduate scholarships, stipends, and health subsidies, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor data integrity and implement internal controls and audit practices to mitigate financial and operational risk
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of professionals supporting systems, data, and student financial programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Guide strategic initiatives in partnership with senior leadership, including financial modernization, reporting, and process redesign
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on systems strategy, policy alignment, and organizational readiness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in budget, financial, or accounting services; OR a high school diploma/equivalent and ten (10) years of related experience (or a combination of post-high school education and experience totaling ten years)
  • Experience working with financial systems, data, and reporting
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and reconcile financial data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong customer service orientation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience reading and writing SQL or working with Oracle databases and related tools
  • Experience in higher education finance, student financial services, or bursar operations

Compensation & Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000.
