DoW SkillBridge Fellowship - Loan Officer Assistant

Overview

**TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS ONLY AS PART OF THE DOW SKILLBRIDGE PROGRAM**

To offer eligible Service Members currently approved to participate in the DoW SkillBridge program the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insight into Navy Federal's business, technology, resources, and procedures by providing support in focused areas, applying knowledge and education. Participate in a collaborative, team driven network, and interact with multiple departments. Utilize and further develop technical and soft skills, business knowledge, analytical techniques, and creative problem-solving abilities. Provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

* Assist Loan Officers with document collection, follow-up functions via phone calls and electronically to members
* Ensure progress and inclusion of required mortgage processing information (e.g. minimum required documentation, assets, income and liabilities, etc.)
* Review loan applications for completeness, data integrity and accuracy and to determine if additional and/or supporting documentation is required
* Provide general mortgage related answers through HomeSquad or via phone as needed to members seeking quick responses
* Provide a moderate level of expertise and member service to resolve moderately complex inquiries, requests, and problems* Stay abreast of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and Navy Federal policies and procedures
* Perform other duties as assigned
* Schedule Type: Hybrid with the expectation to report onsite a minimum of 4 days per week for the first 6 months. (Ensuring to meet NFCU Hybrid Guidelines)

Qualifications

* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Experience in the mortgage lending industry
* Working knowledge of Navy Federal first mortgage (purchase and refinance) applications, products, services, programs, policies and procedures
* Basic data gathering and research skills
* Effective member/customer service skills
* Moderate skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
* Moderate skill performing mathematical calculations and working accurately with numbers
* Basic skill in comprehending, analyzing, applying and communicating complex written legal documents
* Basic skill interacting with staff, management, vendors and members diplomatically and tactfully
* Basic skill maintaining composure in a changing environment
* Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
* Effective verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
* Basic database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills (e.g., Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
