Summary

Peer Recovery Coaches bring lived experience and compassionate, non-clinical support to the Emergency Department, helping patients move from crisis to treatment. Working with ED staff and social workers, they provide bedside engagement, motivational interviewing, warm referrals, appointment/transportation coordination, and post-discharge follow-up to improve treatment linkage and outcomes.

Core Responsibilities



  • Deliver brief assessments and motivational peer support for patients screening positive for alcohol/drug use.
  • Create recovery support plans and coordinate warm handoffs to community treatment.
  • Arrange appointments and transportation; verify attendance and follow up by phone.
  • Provide family resources, model coping skills, and sustain peer support post-discharge.
  • Collaborate with ED staff, complete required documentation, and meet productivity and training expectations.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 6-12 months peer recovery experience; minimum 3 years personal sustained recovery.
  • Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Addiction Counselor; annual training.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; Microsoft Office proficiency.


Salary Range: Minimum 18.27/hour - Maximum 27.04/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
