Job Title: Associate Program Officer - Full-Time - Remote/Hybrid or In-Person options

General Summary:

As an Associate Program Officer at the Jane Bancroft Robinson Foundation, affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, big-thinking, and mission-driven environment. Reporting to the Director of Project Management & Operations and providing integral support to the Program Officers for Programs and Strategic Partnerships, this role combines the responsibilities of managing key Foundation projects with the strategic oversight typically associated with a Program Officer position. You will lead and co-lead initiatives, manage multiple, high-priority projects, and engage with grantees and community partners to advance the health and overall livelihood of Black women living East of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. The role demands effective prioritization, rapid action, confidentiality, and the ability to foster collaboration.



About the Jane Bancroft Robinson Foundation (JBRF):

Founded in 2010 to honor the legacy of Jane Bancroft Robinson, JBRF continues her work of caring for the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the underserved. Operated initially by the Women's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, our foundation today is dedicated to championing change and improving racial equity, health, and employment outcomes for Black women East of the River. We engage in inclusive philanthropy, prioritize excellence, innovation, humility, and foster collaboration.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer & President, Director of Operations and Program Management, Director of Programs, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and Program Officers.


  • Assign project tasks to relevant parties and check in for status updates.


  • Develop and maintain project performance databases that track overall progress and the accomplishment of specific milestones.


  • Support program research initiatives. Draft reports, white papers, and other informational documents. Create presentation materials and resources for diverse stakeholder groups, including internal and external audiences. Analyze data and make presentations. Assist with correspondence, memos, and research summaries.


  • Support the planning and execution of Foundation projects and initiatives.


  • Lead special projects, as assigned by the CEO, Director of Project Management & Operations, Director of Programs, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and/or Program Officers.


  • Serve as one of the liaisons between the Foundation, grantees, and community partners, providing technical assistance and managing relationships.


  • Participate in decision-making and problem-solving processes, offering timely and relevant information, recommendations, and feedback.


  • Maintain detailed knowledge of program areas, current issues, trends, and community assets, particularly East of the Anacostia River.


  • Draft, review, and assess grant proposals and contracts; manage and monitor grantee outcomes.


  • Develop and manage content for presentations, meetings, and speaking engagements, including drafting speeches.


  • Utilize web-based management systems for foundation and grant compliance and record-keeping; monitor grant reporting compliance.


  • Lead effective, consistent, and timely communications among the groups.


  • Support the Foundation's process improvement and development/implementation efforts in collaboration with the Director of Project Management & Operations


  • Technical skill sets


  • Excellent notetaking and synthesizing of information - providing high level key points, action items and dissemination.


  • Intermediate to expert skill sets with use of various technology software - Google platform, Office 365, Adobe, Zoom, WebEx, etc.


  • Draft various communications - agendas, introductions, thank you emails and follow-ups, etc.


  • Project management - use of software that tracks all the various activities (familiarity with Asana and Google Suite is strongly preferred).

Minimum Education and Experience:



  • Relevant educational background, with a preference for those holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the nonprofit or grantmaking fields.


  • At least three to five years of relevant work experience, demonstrating skills in project management, critical thinking, and relationship management.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database software, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with the DC metropolitan area and its community dynamics.



Supervision Received From: Director of Project Management & Operations



Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The role involves standard office requirements, including the use of computers and office equipment, with the expectation of occasional lifting of items weighing up to 15 pounds. The work environment is well-lit, ventilated, and temperature-controlled.

Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
