Central Plant Lead - JLL What this job involves:

Develop your engineering career at JLL! The Central Plant Lead is responsible for operating and maintaining central plant equipment within a team environment while ensuring the highest level of professionalism and meeting clients' needs. This role is committed to achieving 100% uptime throughout the team by protecting and improving the value of client assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function.

You will implement and manage agreed-to client maintenance standards, assist in managing 3rd party maintenance providers, and ensure overall systems performance. This position executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs, continuously evaluates current maintenance and operations methods, leads plant maintenance, and implements changes to enhance operational effectiveness.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Perform highly skilled operation, repair, and maintenance of the plant and its associated equipment in a safe and efficient manner using comprehensive understanding of system interdependencies and operations
  • Analyze system data, monitor, and manage system controls or Building Automation Control Systems to anticipate system needs, problem-solve, and adjust set points
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, VFDs, and all associated auxiliary equipment and controls
  • Perform routine and emergency repairs to electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery, systems, and equipment
  • Manage all chemical treatment/testing and monitoring associated with steam, cooling towers, and chilled and hot water systems as applicable
  • Ensure detailed preventative maintenance tasks are executed as scheduled and documented in the CMMS
  • Respond to alarms and take appropriate action to correct system operations and communicate all issues and resolutions
  • Assist in maintaining all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and documentation mandated for regulatory compliance with Federal, State, or Local law
  • Comply with all Federal, State, local, and company policies regarding regulatory compliance and safety
  • Provide work direction to fellow maintenance team members and/or 3rd party service providers
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in commercial or industrial Central Utility Plant and Chilled Water Systems
  • EPA Section 608 Universal certification
  • Journeyman Refrigeration Technician's License / Massachusetts Refrigeration Technicians License
  • Valid state driver's license (must possess and maintain)
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or Building Management System (BMS)
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background and knowledge in building mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand basic engineering drawings and specifications including work orders and equipment manuals
  • Ability to work different schedules, including holidays, weekends, and after-hours site emergencies
  • Physical ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., safely climb ladders, work at elevation, and work in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trade school education, union training, military service, or college degree

Work Shift:

On-site, Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies

Salary/ Comp:

$120,000 - $140,000

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
