Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Head of Retail and Multi-Site Architecture to lead strategic market expansion and architectural excellence across retail and multi-site project sectors throughout the Americas region. This senior leadership role uniquely combines strategic growth leadership with architectural direction, advancing our unified North American design strategy through business development, thought leadership, and design delivery excellence. The successful candidate will spearhead go-to-market strategies, cultivate C-suite relationships, lead architectural production, and position JLL Design as the trusted partner for transformative retail environments across the Americas region. Key Responsibilities Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies to achieve growth targets, revenue generation, and profitability goals for retail architecture services
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, client segments, and service offerings across retail and multi-site sectors
- Build capabilities through strategic recruitment while leveraging JLL's existing network and resources
- Monitor competitive landscape and market trends to differentiate JLL Design offerings and identify emerging opportunities
- Establish clear targets and track performance metrics for sustainable growth and market penetration
External Business Development & Thought Leadership
- Proactively source new business opportunities through client events, industry conferences, speaking engagements, and digital platforms including LinkedIn
- Build and maintain strategic C-suite relationships across Americas markets, targeting key decision makers in retail and workplace sectors
- Establish thought leadership positioning through published case studies, podium presentations, white papers, and active industry engagement
- Prepare compelling supporting materials including architectural drawings, renderings, presentations, and feasibility studies for new business pitches
- Develop and execute strategic client event programming showcasing JLL Design capabilities and market expertise
- Lead high-stakes contract negotiations and identify cross-selling opportunities across JLL Design's integrated service offerings
- Participate in strategic roadshows and marketing events to generate qualified new business opportunities and strengthen market presence
Architecture Leadership & Design Delivery
- Serve as Head of Retail and Multi-Site Architecture for the Americas, representing JLL Design's architectural vision, design philosophy, and commitment to excellence
- Lead production of conceptual designs, schematic documentation, and high-level feasibility studies supporting both business development initiatives and client delivery
- Oversee architectural standards, design quality, technical execution, and innovation across retail and workplace projects
- Lead and uphold Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, digital documentation workflows, and technology-enabled architectural delivery processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and technical excellence across retail and multi-site programs
- Ensure effective use of BIM tools and digital design technologies to support design quality, documentation consistency, coordination efficiency, and scalable project delivery
- Partner with internal design and technical teams to drive BIM-enabled collaboration, prototype standardization, rollout efficiency, and multi-site program execution
- Champion innovation in architectural production through BIM, visualization tools, digital documentation platforms, and emerging design technologies
- Collaborate closely with design teams to align strategic growth initiatives with creative delivery excellence and client satisfaction
- Oversee integration planning of acquired firms, ensuring cultural alignment with JLL Design's values, standards, and brand identity
- Provide expert architectural guidance and technical leadership to support pitch development, proposal responses, and project delivery
- Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of innovation, functionality, sustainability, and brand alignment while exceeding client expectations
Team Leadership & People Development
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing, diverse teams of architects, designers, and business development professionals across the Americas
- Mentor and develop architectural talent through active coaching, skills building, career development planning, and performance management
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that fosters design innovation, creative excellence, and professional growth
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify training needs to enhance architecture-specific team capabilities, BIM proficiency, and technical skills
- Proactively recruit top architectural talent and upskill existing talent to strengthen client retention and service delivery excellence
- Provide comprehensive training to in-house JLL staff on architectural processes, BIM standards, design documentation workflows, and best practices
Partnership & Collaboration
- Collaborate strategically with senior leadership to align growth strategies and architectural direction across the Americas region
- Partner with design leadership to inspire teams, share best practices across geographies, and drive integrated, client-focused solutions
- Foster cross-functional partnerships across design, delivery, project management, and business development teams to maximize growth opportunities
Preferred Qualifications / Candidate Profile
- Licensed Architect preferred
- Significant experience leading retail, rollout, prototype, and multi-site architecture programs across multiple markets
- Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and strategic growth leadership
- Strong knowledge of architectural production, technical documentation, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows
- Proficiency in industry-standard design and documentation tools, including Revit and other BIM-enabled platforms
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams and driving consistency in design standards, documentation, and delivery quality
- Strong executive presence with the ability to engage clients, internal stakeholders, and project teams at all levels
