Chief Engineer - JLL What this job involves:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead facilities operations at a premier Manhattan location. In this critical role, you will serve as the primary liaison between JLL Site Management, business unit stakeholders, Facilities Operations, maintenance teams, outside service providers, and contractors. You will oversee the implementation of approved initiatives and programs while managing and coordinating property team efforts, including vendors, contractors, and building employees.

This position requires a strategic leader who can maintain interface with third-party vendors, ensure total contract compliance, deliver accurate and timely reporting, and drive swift resolution of operational issues. You will be responsible for generating and implementing Facility Switching Procedures (FSPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), maintaining a comprehensive library with annual reviews and revisions.

As Chief Engineer, you will manage the JLL/IBM Facilities Work Order System (MAXIMO), ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and work orders are completed promptly. You will oversee projects and initiatives to continuously improve facilities operations and service delivery while maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping in all technical and mechanical spaces.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Ensure effective communication across all JLL teams, business stakeholders, and external service providers
  • Oversee implementation of facilities programs by coordinating vendors, contractors, and building staff
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, ensuring contract compliance and issue resolution
  • Develop, implement, and maintain FSPs, SOPs, and EOPs with regular reviews
  • Interact with suppliers, consultants, and vendors on facilities and property matters
  • Lead projects and initiatives to enhance facilities operations and service delivery
  • Manage the MAXIMO Work Order System, ensuring timely completion and proper resource allocation
  • Ensure compliance with JLL procurement policies for facilities services and goods
  • Assist with local, state, and federal regulatory compliance
  • Maintain high-quality housekeeping standards in all technical and mechanical spaces
  • Conduct weekly building tours (interior and exterior) and document findings in Building Inspection/FIBI reporting tools
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for equipment monitoring, emergency delegation, and operational assistance.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent with 6-8+ years of high-tech industry and/or facilities management experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience managing facility infrastructure and leading teams
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under stressful situations at all times
  • Proven ability to work on highly complex problems requiring analysis and rational judgment
  • Experience with CMMS/work order platforms (MAXIMO experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, Mechanical, and Electrical processes and troubleshooting (Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Air Conditioning, Pumps, Generators, UPS, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to perform physical demands including prolonged standing, lifting/moving/pulling 25 pounds, kneeling, etc.
  • Ability to react effectively, quickly, calmly, and rationally in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Visio/CAD
  • Advanced certifications in facilities management or engineering disciplines.

Work Shift:

6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary/Comp:

$148,512 annually

Estimated compensation for this position:

148,512.00 - 148,512.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
