Description: Work Schedule: This is a 100% FTE salaried position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will primarily work at American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH) with occasional travel to the UW Health Administrative Office Building, located in Madison, WI. Be part of something remarkable! Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin! We are seeking a Nursing Education Specialist (NES) to:
- Lead onboarding and ongoing professional development for pediatric nursing staff supporting a 24-bed Intermediate/Complex Care Unit (P7) and the pediatric float pool at American Family Children's Hospital.
- Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs for nurses caring for medically complex children with conditions including tracheostomies, home ventilators, epilepsy, renal disease, scoliosis, Type 1 diabetes, and other chronic and acute complex care needs.
- Support nurses providing specialized family-centered education and care coordination for pediatric patients who often require advanced technology, long-term care support, and complex discharge planning.
- Partner with nursing leaders and fellow educators to support a highly versatile pediatric float pool serving general care, IMC, ICU, PICU, NICU, hematology/oncology, pulmonary, renal, neurology, and surgical specialty populations.
- Serve as a clinical education resource promoting competency validation, evidence-based practice, and high-quality care delivery across diverse pediatric inpatient environments.
- Participate in system-wide education initiatives and NES responsibilities; preferred candidates bring a minimum of three (3) years of pediatric inpatient IMC level experience and a passion for developing nurses in fast-paced, high-acuity specialty care settings.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing Required
- Master's Degree in Nursing Education Preferred
Work Experience
- 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
- 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience with position specific patient population Preferred
- 3 years of experience providing orientation and education for nursing staff in clinical setting Preferred
- Relevant experience in primary and specialty clinic settings for NES candidates working in ambulatory areas Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
- Basic Life Support BLS/CPR certification Upon Hire Required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months Required
- National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
