Director of Premier Club Sports

The Director of Premier Club Sports is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Premier Club Sports, reporting to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management. All Premier Club sport coaches will report to the Director, in addition to other staff as determined necessary. Main responsibilities include further developing an elite level of Club sports at the University with ongoing efforts to grow enrollment by providing an elevated level of athletic competition. This will require, but is not limited to, liaising between departments and coaches, program development, implementation and assessment, budget oversight, ensuring policy and procedure compliance, and problem-solving. As a strategic enrollment initiative of the University, the Director is expected to be innovative, entrepreneurial, collaborative, analytical, highly organized, inquisitive, and have the ability to work independently. The Director will create an atmosphere of competition for coaches and players within the Ignatian tradition in which the dignity of the person is fostered.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to maintain a competitive program that recruits and retains high-level student-athletes.
  • Track outcomes, assess progress, and refine strategies.
  • Analyze enrollment and market data to guide sport offerings, support annual enrollment and revenue planning, track and reporting on the recruitment and retention of student athletes by sport, and oversee program fundraising.
  • Oversee the need for facilities, equipment, uniforms, and vendor relationships in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Manage budgeting, scheduling systems for practices, competitions, and travel, and continuously improve operational processes.
  • Lead hiring, supervision, and development of coaching staff. Set enrollment goals in collaboration with Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Set coaching expectations, support professional development, ensure compliance, and oversee onboarding/offboarding processes in partnership with HR and campus collaborators. Work directly with student athletes to provide mentorship and maintain a culture that is mission aligned with associated desired outcomes.
  • Hire and oversee student interns to support efforts in the areas of game and sports practice operations and equipment management.
  • Work in collaboration with Student Life interns on streaming, website, and social media presence. This will include professional development for students interested in sports management and production.
  • Develop and manage program budgets with fiscal oversight. Monitor performance, educate staff on budget practices, support team fundraising, and coordinate with Finance and University Relations.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures. Ensure program compliance with University standards and external regulations, including proper training for staff and athletes.
  • Provide strategic direction for digital presence, including website, social media, and broadcasting. Partner with Student Life and Athletics to enhance visibility, recruitment, engagement, and fundraising.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred background in people management and athletic program leadership.
  • Understanding of policy and budgeting practices.

  • Experience with programs outlined in the position summary.
  • Highly developed communication skills. Ability to present information in concise detailed written format as well as being comfortable engaging with students, families, and institutional stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to mentor and build trust with students and University partners.
  • Outcomes focused and process informed.
  • Highly developed awareness of priorities and the skill to categorize multiple tasks into clear and manageable workflow.
  • Collaborative nature with the ability to see beyond tasks and job description/divisional structure to identify potential.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
  • Understanding of the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association preferred.
  • Experience in leading athletic programs is preferred.
  • Self-directed with an entrepreneurial spirit while appropriately engages key stakeholders.
