What This Job Involves

As a General Maintenance Technician, you will play an important role in maintaining the appearance, functionality, and overall condition of our client's facilities. This is a hands-on position ideal for an individual with foundational maintenance experience who is looking to expand their skills in facility operations and building maintenance.

The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including painting, drywall repair, basic plumbing, carpentry, grounds maintenance, door and hardware repairs, and general building upkeep. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, prioritize tasks, and provide high-quality customer service while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • Perform routine building maintenance and repair activities throughout the facility.
  • Complete painting, patching, and finishing work on walls, ceilings, doors, and other building surfaces.
  • Perform basic drywall repairs, including patching holes, replacing damaged sections, and preparing surfaces for painting.
  • Complete basic plumbing repairs such as replacing faucets, repairing fixtures, clearing drains, and addressing minor leaks.
  • Perform minor carpentry work, including repairs to doors, cabinets, furniture, hardware, and building fixtures.
  • Conduct door and door hardware repairs and adjustments.
  • Perform minor roof patching and exterior building repairs as assigned.
  • Support grounds maintenance activities, including litter removal, landscaping support, snow removal, and exterior property upkeep.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely, professional manner.
  • Utilize a computer, tablet, or mobile device to receive assignments, update work orders, record labor and materials, and document completed work within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special projects and other facility maintenance tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, construction, facilities, or a related trade.
  • Basic knowledge of drywall repair, painting, plumbing, carpentry, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial or industrial building maintenance.
  • Experience with grounds keeping and landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Experience with basic roofing repairs, drain cleaning, and door hardware adjustments.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or computerized work order systems.
  • Experience operating equipment such as lawn tractors, snow removal equipment, or similar maintenance tools.
  • General knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.

Location: Onsite - Mattawan, MI

Shift: Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Weekend Rotation: Approximately every 7th-8th weekend (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
