Work Schedule: Join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and bring your diabetes and endocrinology nursing practice expertise! This unique opportunity is a 100% FTE position scheduled to typically work Monday through Friday, day shift hours, however some off hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. Your primary work location will be Junction Road Medical Center with travel required throughout the Madison, WI area to support a variety of clinic/ambulatory facilities. Be part of something remarkable and help shape the future of diabetes care across UW Health's ambulatory network! We are seeking a MSN or DNP prepared Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to:
- Serve as the clinical expert for adult diabetes and endocrinology care, leading evidence-based practice initiatives that improve outcomes, reduce preventable emergency department visits and hospital readmissions, and optimize chronic disease management.
- Partner with endocrinology, diabetes education, and primary care teams to strengthen diabetes management across the continuum, supporting specialty clinics while empowering primary care teams to confidently manage appropriate patients.
- Lead quality improvement, practice change, and care redesign initiatives that enhance care coordination, improve access to specialty services, and promote safe, effective outpatient diabetes management.
- Mentor and consult with nurses and interdisciplinary teams on complex diabetes care, including medication management, diabetes technologies, insulin regimens, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), insulin pumps, and patient self-management strategies.
- Support the integration of evidence-based practice, research, and new technologies while serving as a key resource for ambulatory nursing staff, diabetes educators, and organizational leaders across multiple practice settings.
- Bring your expertise in diabetes care and leadership. A minimum of two (2) years of recent adult diabetes and/or endocrinology nursing experience is highly preferred, with advanced knowledge of outpatient diabetes management, current diabetes medications, and diabetes technology strongly preferred.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing Required
- Master's Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus Preferred
Work Experience
- 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
- 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
- Previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist Preferred
- Experience in an academic medical center Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
- Basic Life Support CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required
- CNS certification Preferred
- Certification in specialty area of practice Preferred
