Overview

The Digital Process Automation (DPA) Test Engineering & Automation Intern will support testing activities for Pega applications, assist with Selenium-based automation development and execution, and contribute to Python scripting and AI-assisted testing efforts. This role is ideal for a student who wants hands-on experience with enterprise application testing, automation frameworks, and modern AI-enabled quality practices while working in a collaborative technology team.

The intern will gain practical experience supporting DPA's testing team by assisting them with test automation, execution, documentation, and analysis. The role will help backfill test engineering capacity across multiple DPA projects and support ongoing improvements that reduce manual testing effort and improve repeatability. The intern will work under the direction of team members and management while learning established standards, policies, procedures, and enterprise technology practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute Selenium-based automated test scripts for DPA Pega applications.
  • Assist with Python scripting to support automation frameworks, utilities, test data preparation, and repeatable testing activities.
  • Support manual, functional, regression, and smoke testing activities as needed across DPA projects.
  • Translate business requirements and user stories into clear test scenarios, test cases, and validation steps.
  • Document test results, identify defects, and support defect tracking and retesting activities.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted testing initiatives, including AI-supported test case generation and analysis of test coverage opportunities.
  • Support integration of automated tests into CI/CD or DevOps workflows where applicable.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers, scrum teams, and leadership to complete assigned tasks.
  • Provide day-to-day support for testing tasks, project work, analysis, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Basic proficiency in Java and/or Python, with willingness to learn and apply scripting concepts in a real enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to Selenium or similar web automation frameworks; academic, personal, or project experience is acceptable.
  • Understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test case creation, execution, validation, and defect documentation.
  • Ability to learn Pega application testing concepts and apply them to web-based enterprise systems.
  • Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery, SDLC concepts, and working within a team environment.
  • Effective analytical, research, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to test frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, or comparable tools.
  • Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Maven, or CI/CD pipeline concepts.
  • Basic SQL knowledge for data validation or test support.
  • Interest in AI, Generative AI, automation, or AI-assisted software testing.
  • Experience with web applications, APIs, or enterprise workflow tools.
  • Strong academic record and commitment to continuous learning and self-development.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM (minimum of 20-25 hours a week, based on school schedule)
