Build Your Future in a Skilled Trade as an Energy Plant Operator! Are you ready to launch a career in the skilled trades? The Stationary Engineer Skilled Worker Apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to earn a paycheck while you learn a skilled profession-with hands-on training, classroom instruction, and the support of Johns Hopkins every step of the way. The Stationary Engineer Skilled Worker, as directed by the MD 1st Grade Engineer on duty or the Operations Supervisor, starts, stops and collects operating data. Adheres to good engineering standards of housekeeping and safety. Work closely with the plant maintenance technicians to identify equipment concerns and address smaller issues involving leaks and lubrication. Employees participating in the Stationary engineer apprenticeship will be given two years to complete step one requirements: passing exam for 5th level and 4th level stationary engineer, completion of 2000 hours in on the job training and completion of 3 credit hours of Boiler Operations and Safety approved by Maryland DLLR Earn While You Learn Selected candidates will enroll in a four-year, Maryland state-approved apprenticeship program while working full-time at Johns Hopkins. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
