The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS) will support education, professional development, and clinical training initiatives within the School of Medicine. This role will promote evidence-based practice, support staff orientation and competency validation, and assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs using adult learning principles.

The NPDS will play a key role in educating and supporting clinical staff-including providers, nurses, and medical assistants-with a focus on EPIC (EHR) best-practice workflows and clinical processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support education and professional development activities across the School of Medicine.
• Promote evidence-based practice and facilitate the integration of best practices into clinical workflows.
• Support new staff orientation, onboarding, and competency validation.
• Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs using adult learning principles.
• Develop and deliver education and training for providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff.
• Educate clinical staff on EPIC (EHR) best-practice workflows and support effective utilization of the electronic health record.
• Identify educational needs and collaborate with clinical leaders and interdisciplinary teams to address knowledge and competency gaps.
• Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support a culture of professional development, lifelong learning, patient safety, and evidence-based clinical practice.
• Serve as an educational resource and clinical support for ambulatory teams across the School of Medicine.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced RN and educator who enjoys developing clinical staff, facilitating learning, and translating evidence-based practice into everyday clinical workflows. Experience in ambulatory and/or academic healthcare environments, combined with strong communication and educational skills, will be highly valued.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• Current MD or compact, multi-state RN license required
• Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience required.
• Five (5) years of nursing experience highly preferred.
• Previous Nursing Professional Development Specialist or Clinical Education Nurse experience is a plus!
• RN experience in ambulatory setting preferred.
• Academic ambulatory experience highly preferred
• Must be able to travel to several Johns Hopkins locations.

Salary Range: Minimum $43.61/hour - Maximum $67.59/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
