You are someone who likes to see hardware actually work in the real world, not just pass a test bench. You have probably spent time in a lab, a data center, or a customer site where things did not go as planned-and you figured it out anyway. Maybe you have debugged a board that should not have failed but did, or traced a problem through firmware, cabling, power, and back to a config file someone edited three weeks ago.

Travel does not scare you. In fact, you are drawn to the idea of spending most of your time in the field, going onsite, meeting the people who depend on the system, and leaving it running better than you found it. You know how to stay calm when something breaks during an install, and you are good at explaining what happened and what you are doing about it without making it sound worse than it is.

You bring a mix of hardware instinct, troubleshooting discipline, and the kind of follow-through that means problems actually get closed. At Synopsys, you will work on emulation and prototyping platforms that verification teams around the world depend on to prove their designs before tapeout.

• Install, configure, and validate Synopsys emulation and prototyping hardware at customer sites and internal labs, ensuring systems are deployment-ready and meet performance specs.
• Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, networking, and integration issues across boards, chassis, power distribution, and peripherals, performing root cause analysis and driving fixes to closure.
• Partner with Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, and R&D teams to surface product issues, recommend design improvements, and help improve system reliability across the platform.
• Develop and execute validation procedures that confirm hardware quality, system integration, and readiness for production use before customer handoff.
• Document installation outcomes, failure modes, corrective actions, and deployment metrics to support continuous improvement and knowledge transfer across the team.
• Support manufacturing reviews and quality initiatives by feeding field data back into the product development cycle.
• Travel domestically and internationally approximately 70% of the time to support installations, upgrades, relocations, and escalations, often on short notice and with flexible scheduling.
  
  

• Ensure Synopsys emulation and prototyping systems deploy successfully and stay operational, directly affecting customer project timelines and verification schedules.
• Reduce repeat failures and improve product quality for future deployments through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Build validation procedures that become the standard other engineers follow, raising the bar for deployment readiness across the organization.
• Shape hardware design decisions and improve system reliability at scale through feedback loops with Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Help customers get verification environments up and running faster so they can prove designs sooner and move toward tapeout with confidence.
• Build institutional knowledge through documentation and field insights, making the entire validation organization more effective.
• Support some of the most complex chip designs in the industry-your work will be part of making those projects successful.
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• Experience with hardware installation, integration, or validation (lab, manufacturing, or field environment).
• Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, firmware, and system-level integration issues using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, or similar diagnostic tools.
• Comfort working with networking equipment, power systems, cabling, and rack-level infrastructure in a data center or lab setting.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 70% of the time, including extended onsite engagements and occasional weekend or evening work.
• Flexibility to work outside standard business hours during installations, customer cutovers, or critical escalations.
• Experience with emulation, prototyping, or FPGA-based verification platforms (strong plus).

• You are organized enough to track multiple installations, issues, and follow-ups across time zones without dropping threads or losing details in the shuffle.
• You communicate clearly when something goes wrong-you can explain what happened, what you are doing about it, and when it will be fixed, without jargon or panic.
• You are comfortable working independently in the field, but you also know when to pull in help from Engineering or escalate an issue beyond your scope.
• You take ownership of the systems you deploy; if something breaks after you leave, you want to know why and make sure it does not happen again.
• You are genuinely comfortable with a travel-heavy role-you understand what 70% travel means in practice and you are built for that kind of work rhythm.
  
  

You will join the Hardware-Assisted Verification (HAV) Validation team, a global group of field engineers who ensure Synopsys emulation and prototyping platforms deploy successfully at customer sites worldwide. The team is distributed across regions to support installations and escalations, but you will collaborate closely with validation engineers in other geographies, sharing troubleshooting approaches and field insights.

You will report to the Validation Engineering Manager and work day-to-day with Hardware Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing teams to close the loop on product issues. While you will spend most of your time traveling, you will have a home base in Sunnyvale where you can access lab resources and coordinate with internal teams between deployments.
