This position may work remotely in one of the following states WA, CA, AZ, TX, DE, CO, OH

We guarantee 100% up-time for DNS Services and we are seeking someone to be an integral part of our DNS Infrastructure Group, or "DIG", reporting to our Senior Director. DIG is responsible for running the DNS for over 400 Top Level Domains, as well as devising and providing support for emerging protocols in our industry.

In this role, the ideal candidate will design and implement the supporting infrastructure to facilitate DNS applications in a globally distributed environment, including traditional as well as cloud-based initiatives.

The Systems Administrator can grow into developing and shaping the future of the Internet by working within the Internet community to define, build and implement emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities



  • Implementation of new hardware and software infrastructure for DNS security, publication and resolution

  • Design next generation DNS infrastructure, including systems, networks, and cloud-based initiatives.

  • Retrofitting of existing hardware/software

  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance of hardware/software

  • Evaluate new hardware/software/protocols for production viability

  • Work with vendors to integrate and support systems

  • Documentation and training for peers and non-peer groups both within the organization, as well as externally for customers, government agencies, and the Internet community at-large.

  • Provide second-level support to resolve customer and organization name service issues as submitted within the ticketing system, or as escalated by the Network Operations Center

  • Develop pipelines, workflows, scripts and applications to automate common or repetitive tasks


Required Technical Experience



  • Proven success in corporate DNS operations (using one or more of: BIND, NSD, PowerDNS, knot, Unbound) and UNIX systems operations, preferably Linux and FreeBSD.

  • Functional experience working with:



    • IPv6 and routing protocols, including BGP (quagga, ExaBGP), multicasting, and anycasting

    • packet and traffic analysis

    • scripting using UNIX-based tools, (shell, sed, awk, perl, etc.) as well as Python

    • containerization, production rollouts and deployment scheduling in a widely distributed environment



Additional Technical Experience Preferred, but not required



  • The ideal candidate may also be familiar with:



    • DNSSEC operations

    • DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based rollouts

    • domain name registration and resolution protocols

    • Domain name industry experience



Required Skills



  • Ability to quickly read, understand and analyze technical specifications



  • Occasionally required to work outside of regular office hours. Participate in on-call rotation



  • Ability to work successfully from a remote location (home, remote offices, data centers) and with a geographically distributed global team

  • Analytical and diagnostic ability

  • Self-Directed (must be able to take initiative and prioritize interruptions)

  • <10% international travel required (industry participation, annual team meeting)
