Position Summary

Avantax Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Blucora and sister company to Avantax Planning Partners is seeking a Regional Director, Business Development that will be responsible for sourcing, assessing, interviewing, and selecting the highest and most qualified Transfer Advisors and Large Accounting Firms to become Registered Representatives (Advisors) for the entity. As a member of the Advisor calling/sourcing team, the selected candidate will work with the team and Management to gain an overall understanding of the respective markets, including our penetration and opportunity, and use this knowledge to develop qualified leads through effective channels of communication including, but not limited to direct mail and internet lead follow-up, cold calling, database searching, proactive networking, and strategic social media sourcing.

Essentials Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with prospects and business partners.

  • Source high-quality new Financial Advisor Associates to the entity, who are CPAs, EAs, Tax Professionals, and other Financial Advisors with existing books of business of $50M AUA or greater.

  • Source high-quality new Financial Advisor Associates to the entity, who are CPAs, EAs, and Tax Professionals who are part of large accounting firms with $1MM+ account revenue and have multiple partners within the organization.

  • Ability to source referrals from existing Advisors.

  • Development and implementation of entities sourcing strategies.

  • Interview and qualify Financial Advisor candidates for progression in the process.

  • Communicate the application, qualification, evaluation, and selection process to candidates.

  • Foster and grow relationships that develop into true partnerships.

  • Recommend strategies to improve Associate selection and retention.

  • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence.

  • Support targeted diversity initiatives.

  • Contribute to the creation of standardized recruiting processes to improve recruiting efficiency.

  • Other job duties as defined.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in sourcing/cold calling within the Financial Services industry. Experience with Private Wealth and/or recruiting Financial Advisors isstronglypreferred but not required.

  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.

  • Superior verbal communication.

  • Self-starter, motivated by working in an incentive-based compensation structure.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to exchange ideas and information with others across multi-site locations.

  • High attention to detail and willingness to take direction.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster strong relationships among the team, other associates within the firm, and candidates.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain necessary confidentiality.

  • Series 7/63 or 7/66 is strongly preferred but not required.

  • Sitting for an extended period.

  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.

  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.
