Summary:

The Systems Engineer will work individually and as a member of a team to find solutions for complex technical problems. This position will work with a team of engineers, primarily in a project-oriented environment, but also will serve as an escalation point for complex issues requiring a high degree of technical skill and knowledge. This position is exempt, full-time, and will report to the IT Engineering Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Monitor, administer, and support the firm's array of infrastructure and application services with a focus on health and performance, availability, integrity, and security
  • Participate in projects of various sizes and complexity involving multiple engineers, including external vendors and consultants as well as non-technical stakeholders
  • Resolve complex technical issues, and research root causes to implement lasting fixes
  • Research, design, and implement new technologies in support of ongoing infrastructure evolution and applications geared toward a professional services environment
  • Recommend upgrades and enhancements to existing technologies and participate in the development of the annual capital budget
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and participate in the development of firm IT operations and security policies and processes
  • Work effectively with support organizations and outside consultants to augment the team's capabilities and expertise
  • Be accountable for the tracking and timely completion of your assigned work
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and keep them informed of progress and status
  • Interact and communicate with customers and colleagues in person and via telephone, email, and IM in a respectful, professional, and effective manner.
  • Establish effective working relationships with fellow engineers, other employees, and outside consultants
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications : To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Education and Experience:


  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of experience and professional certification is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of similar experience in a mid to large size company; experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • One or more of the following certifications is highly desirable:

    • MCSE/MCITP covering related Microsoft technologies
    • VMware VCP or higher
    • CCNA or higher
