Position Summary

The Registered Nursing program at Allan Hancock College is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for in-person or online instructional vacancies. The assignment may include classes at the Santa Maria campus, Lompoc Valley Center, or online, as needed. Positions may be available during the Fall and Spring semesters, or summer session.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

The teaching assignment will include one or more courses offered in the program, such as;

  • Theory:
    1. Spring - Med-Surg Nursing, RN Skills, and Transitions to Professional Practice.
    2. Fall - Med-Surg Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Leadership, and RN Skills
  • Clinical
    1. Spring - Med-Surg Nursing and Geriatrics
    2. Fall - Med-Surg Nursing, Geriatrics, and Mental Health

Essential Functions and Qualifications
  • Provide instruction in accordance with Board of Registered Nursing approved curriculum.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge and clinical skills in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Maintain current nursing licensure.
  • Teach classes as scheduled. Maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain current health care facility requirements including but not limited to vaccinations, TB testing, etc.
Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active California Registered Nurse license
  • Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in the California Community Colleges
  • Master's preparation for nursing theory courses including skills courses with direct patient care experiences in the specific content areas - medical surgical, geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics, and/or mental health.
  • Baccalaureate degree preparation for clinical courses with direct patient experience s in the specific content areas - medical surgical, geriatrics, pediatrics, obstetrics, and/or mental health.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
