Women's Heart Center Cardiology Program Director




Position Purpose

Under the direction of the Cardiovascular Service Line Clinical Director, and as a member of the Renown Medical Group (RMG), the Women's Heart Center Program Director will work directly and jointly with the Cardiovascular Service Line, Renown Medical Group, Acute Care Leadership, and other Senior Leaders to develop and maintain a Women's Heart Center.



Nature and Scope




  • Develop and grow a dedicated to women's cardiovascular clinic that will address unmet needs in the Northern Nevada/California region including high-risk obstetrics and peripartum cardiomyopathy, cardio-oncology (with a particular focus on breast cancer therapies), ANOCA/MINOCA, SCAD, and POTS/autonomic spectrum disorders.
  • Identify and participate in clinical trials providing new avenues for management of these unmet needs
  • Improve the accuracy and delivery of cardiovascular imaging programs specifically associated with diagnosing cardiovascular conditions in women such as cardiac strain imaging and PET MPI.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of an invasive program for the evaluation and assessment of ANOCA/MINOCA in coordination with invasive cardiology providers.
  • Develop collaborative clinical pathways for the management cross-disciplinary conditions including high-risk obstetrics, cardio-oncology, nuclear imaging, and invasive cardiology.
  • Establish and implement women's cardiovascular health screening programs.
  • Educate Renown and community providers around key advances and contemporary management of cardiovascular conditions that solely or disproportionately affect women.
  • Collaborate with community partners to improve screening and offer services related to cardiovascular conditions in women.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing policies and procedures governing the delivery of care for women's cardiovascular medicine.
  • Assist in the strategic development, communication, and deployment of new clinical programs and practices for the management of women's heart conditions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all partnerships, both in the ambulatory and acute care settings, regarding the delivery of women's cardiovascular care.
  • Continue to maintain a general cardiology practice and provide excellent clinical care for all cardiovascular conditions within the scope of general cardiology.


This position provides patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Name Description

Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School required. Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease. An advanced degree in public health or business is desirable, but not necessary.

Experience: Minimum of three of experience actively participating in a women's heart clinic including in an acute health care facility and/or an integrated healthcare network or successful completion of a fellowship in women's heart disease. Preference given to those candidates with previous medical director/leadership experience.

License(s): Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. A controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA is required.

Certification(s): Board-Certified in Cardiovascular Disease through a board accepted by Renown Health.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification, but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.

Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use a computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.



Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

This section includes the measures of success for a position. A percentage weight is given to each essential function. The percentages should total 100%.

Responsible for physician and service performance measures, quality data and outcomes, financial outcomes and operational policy related to the Women's Heart Center.

Ensure patient and physician satisfaction meets or exceeds established targets

Participate in committee work and attend meetings related to women's cardiovascular health, including but not limited to morbidity and mortality conferences, departmental conferences, meetings with vendors, and local, state, and national meetings, as needed

Responsible for developing and maintaining a close relationship with Renown Medical Group primary care, Renown specialties and community partners to provide a multidisciplinary approach to women's cardiovascular care.
