Business Lending Officer I

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing new business, the structuring and closing of business loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing loan portfolio. Represents the Bank in the local community through active participation in civic activities and in marketing the Bank's products.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages a business loan portfolio; focused on loans that will be under $2,000,000 and managed by exception (MBE) loans, with focus on C&I and owner-occupied opportunities.
• Drives loan, deposit, and fee income growth, ensuring maximum profitability within sound risk management guidelines.
• Analyzes the credit history of applicants and determines their loan repayment capabilities.
• Effectively negotiates terms, structure and pricing to bring opportunities to closure based on risk considerations and value of the relationship.
• Grants loans within prescribed lending authority and/or recommends approval to the Business Team Leader or credit committee.
• Fosters relationships with key internal partners including Retail Banking, Business Banking and Cash Management to increase small business opportunities.
• Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank's business and retail products to facilitate cross selling, enhance the customer experience and maximize bank profitability.
• Resolves business lending and operations issues; initiates and implements workout strategies.
• Serves as a bank SBA liaison. Stays current with SBA policies and procedures.
• Attends various civic functions and events to represent the Bank and maintain a positive presence in the community.

Possesses the ability to identify business opportunities in a highly competitive environment. Possesses excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Knowledge of loan documentation and credit enhancement programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is often performed in an office environment. Ability to stay in a stationary position, operate a computer, exchange information, move inside and outside the workplace for business purposes. Required to travel locally. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in accordance with Webster Five's Remote Work Policy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related discipline

MINIMUM PRIOR EXPERIENCE: 7 years' experience in Financial Services.
