Audit Letter Coordinator

Position summary: Under the direction of the Audit Letter Supervisor, the Coordinator will assist with coordination of the Firm's audit letter response process, including preparation of audit letter responses. The Audit Letter Coordinator will also work with Audit Letter Analysts and the firm's business professionals to respond to and monitor audit letter requests from the firm's clients. The Coordinator will support the process and the Audit Letter Analyst team to ensure all requests are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with ABA guidelines and accordance with firm policies. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Assist business professionals and Audit Letter Analysts with the coordination, organization and tracking of incoming audit letter requests to ensure all are processed timely and in accordance with ABA guidelines and firm policies and procedures

  • Assist with daily operations of the Audit Letter team by monitoring project workload, status, and team member availability with consideration to planned and unplanned absences, time zone differences, and project complexity

  • Support Audit Letter Analysts, associates, partners, business professionals and the firm's Audit Letter Response Committee partners in resolving risk and compliance questions related to audit letter responses

  • Obtain accurate accounting reports and related information using 3E Financial

  • Prepare materials, including prior responses and/or engagement letters, for Audit Letter Analyst review to identify previous disclosures or other concerns

  • Assist with conducting timekeeper polls and tracking responses, flagging affirmative responses for Audit Letter Analyst review

  • Assist with the drafting of audit letter responses for year-end letters and/or update letters for attorney review

  • Assemble necessary documentation supporting audit letter responses for Audit Letter Analyst review

  • Coordinate delivery of draft response, supporting documentation, and special processing instructions to reviewing attorneys and business professionals

  • Work closely with Audit Letter Analysts and others as needed to ensure responses satisfy firm policies, ABA guidelines, and any other applicable requirements

  • Coordinate with business professionals to ensure delivery of response to auditors

  • Maintain accurate records of completed audit letter responses in clients' iManage files

  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications

  • Available to work overtime, as required

  • 2+ years direct experience working in a corporate legal environment that includes audit letter response duties (e.g., performing due diligence, research, or compliance duties)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Prior experience as a legal secretary, case assistant or paralegal

  • Experience working in a law firm

Cooley LLP offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits program. EOE.

The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $32.50 - $43.50/hour ($67,600 - $90,480 annually at 40 hours per week).Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
